Delegation from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and British Consulate-General in Guangzhou Visit WeRide

Guangzhou, Jan.16, 2025 - A delegation led by Mr. Chris Jones, Director of Technology and Analysis of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), visited WeRide (Nasdaq: WRD), a global leader in autonomous driving technology. Accompanying him were Ms. Sarah Mann, British Consul-General Guangzhou, and Mr. Arif Erdogan, Science & Innovation Consul at the British Consulate-General Guangzhou. The delegation was warmly received by Mr. Yehua Huang, Vice President of WeRide, and other company representatives. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on WeRide’s advancements in autonomous driving technology and its international expansion.

The delegation experienced WeRide’s Robotaxi and Robobus. Both Mr. Jones and Ms. Mann were highly impressed with the vehicles’ flexibility and the smooth ride. “The ride was so comfortable that I almost forgot I was in an autonomous vehicle,” commented Ms. Mann.

During the discussion session, WeRide introduced the delegation to how the company addresses global urban challenges, such as high traffic accident rates, aging and shrinking labor forces, and environmental pollution, through autonomous driving technologies. Mr. Chris Jones was deeply impressed by WeRide’s cutting-edge autonomous driving technology. Europe is one of the key markets for WeRide’s global expansion. Over the past year, the company has achieved several milestones in the region, including the launch of its Robobus services at the French Open in Paris, the initiation of Robobus operations at Zurich Airport, and the deployment of Robotaxi and Robobus services in Switzerland. The UK is set to be another important market for WeRide’s international growth.
