Guangzhou, June 8, 2023 -- WeRide announced the official achievement of the ISO 26262:2018 Road Vehicle Functional Safety ASIL-D process certificate (hereinafter referred to as "ISO 26262"). The certificate was issued by the globally renowned certification body UL Solutions. This milestone follows WeRide's ISO/SAE 21434 Automotive Cybersecurity Process Certification in May, signifying international recognition for WeRide in both its automotive cybersecurity and the development of vehicle functional safety systems. This achievement is pivotal for the company's efforts in scaling up its mass production and application of autonomous driving technology.

The ISO 26262 standard is currently the globally recognized automotive functional safety process standard, covering the entire lifecycle, including functional safety management, concept phase development, system phase development, hardware phase development, software phase development, support processes, safety analysis, and product release. Through the guidance and application of standardized technical specifications, it aims to ensure that functional failures of safety-related electronic and electrical products do not pose a risk during driving, reducing traffic accidents caused by functional failures of electronic and electrical products.

After more than a year of project practice, WeRide has passed a series of rigorous audits and ultimately obtained the ISO 26262:2018 Road Vehicle Functional Safety ASIL-D Process Certificate issued by UL Solutions.

WeRide Awarded ISO/SAE 21434 Automotive Cybersecurity Process Certification

On March 27, Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his delegation arrived in Guangzhou at the start of their six-day visit to China. In September 2022, WeRide established a Singapore office. In November of the same year, WeRide signed a memorandum of cooperation with Strides, a subsidiary of SMRT, Singapore's largest public transportation operator. The two parties plan to start trial runs and commercial operation of autonomous vehicles in Singapore later this year. In terms of investment, SMRT and another well-known Singaporean investment institution, K3 Ventures, are strategic investors of WeRide, providing strong support for WeRide's development in Singapore and Southeast Asian markets.

On February 21st, 2023, the first autonomous driving bus line in the Science City, jointly created by Huangpu District of Guangzhou City, Guangzhou Development Zone Transportation Investment Group Co., Ltd. Line 1 of the autonomous driving convenience bus uses a dual-motor control architecture and a fully autonomous driving design without a steering wheel or driver's cab. With a top speed of 40 kilometers per hour and full support for V2X communication, it can operate 24/7 in urban open roads at Level 4 autonomous driving. This Chinese passenger vehicle model is the only one to have received the "Red Dot Award," and it is the world's first self-driving bus to have received the World Industrial Design Award.

In terms of innovation and application of intelligent connected vehicles, the Huangpu District and Guangzhou Development Zone have always been at the forefront of China's autonomous driving industry development. With the support of the Huangpu District and Guangzhou Development Zone governments at the end of 2019, WeRide  successfully launched the country's first autonomous driving taxi fleet in a first-tier city, and officially began operations in a 144.65 square kilometer area covering the core areas of Huangpu District and Guangzhou Development Zone's open urban roads, marking the commercial application of China's autonomous driving technology.

According to the head of the Guangzhou Development Zone Public Transport Station Company, a subsidiary of the Guangzhou Development Zone Transportation and Investment Group, five autonomous driving convenience buses will be put into service in the science city area for the first phase, with WeRide responsible for daily operations. Additional routes will be opened depending on the situation, focusing on subway, industrial park, and residential areas.

Guangzhou Huangpu District Science City opens the first self-driving convenient bus line by WeRide's Mini Robobus

On January 19th, WeRide, a self-driving technology company, and Horizon Robotics, an intelligent driving computing solutions provider, signed a strategic cooperation memorandum of understanding. WeRide will use Horizon Robotics' Journey® 5 chip (referred to as the "Journey® 5 chip") development platform and the WeRide One software solution to develop L4-level autonomous driving solutions, including domain controllers, in-car operating systems, and intelligent driving software. WeRide and Horizon Robotics signed a strategic cooperation memorandum of understanding

On January 18th, WeRide's Mini Robobus officially obtained the automatic driving road test license issued by the Beijing High-Level Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone Office. According to the license, WeRide's Mini Robobus can conduct automatic driving on public roads within the entire area of the 60 square kilometer Beijing High-Level Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone.

In response to the specific scenarios of autonomous driving minibuses, Beijing has defined the standards for unmanned shuttle buses for the first time and tailored relevant policies for them. Unlike retrofit models or minibuses with steering wheels, WeRide's Mini Robobus uses a front-mounted production model without a steering wheel, brake, or driver's cab, and has a fully redundant safety design. It is the world's first fully unmanned driving and large-scale mass-produced autonomous driving minibus. The landing of WeRide's Mini Robobus is also the first time that the Beijing High-Level Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone has issued a testing license for unmanned shuttle buses, and the L4 level unmanned shuttle bus will legally drive on Beijing's roads for the first time.

WeRide's Mini Robobus uses pure electric power and can reach a maximum speed of 40 kilometers per hour, supporting V2X functions. It can be flexibly deployed in various open or closed traffic scenarios and can operate on urban open roads around the clock, providing users with convenient transportation services and representing a new way of urban travel.

Earlier, at the end of 2022, WeRide obtained two Beijing autonomous driving road test licenses in a row, officially launching the unmanned public road test of autonomous driving taxis. In 2023, WeRide's Mini Robobus quickly completed autonomous driving-related technical tests and obtained approval for landing following autonomous driving taxis. The dual landing of WeRide's Robotaxi and Mini Robo bus in Beijing means that WeRide's matrix product landing plan in Beijing is advancing rapidly, fully reflecting WeRide's strategic advantage of diversified layout of "one platform, three major scenarios, and five major products" for autonomous driving.

As of now, WeRide has landed Mini Robobuses in cities such as Guangzhou, Beijing, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Wuxi, Bo'ao, and Riyadh, providing local residents with new travel options.

On January 5, 2023, WeRide, a leading autonomous driving technology company, unveiled its latest generation of autonomous driving sensor suite, WeRide Sensor Suite 5.1 (WeRide SS 5.1), at the 2023 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, USA. WeRide SS 5.1 integrates a variety of sensors, including vehicle-grade high-resolution semi-solid-state lidars, side lidars, and high-precision cameras, to achieve 360-degree sensing with no blind spots within a straight line distance of 200 meters. WeRide SS 5.1 continues WeRide's distributed design philosophy for autonomous driving sensor suites, and further improves its modularity, compactness, and integration, tailored to meet the advanced autonomous driving demands of L3 for large-scale production. WeRide unveiled its latest generation of autonomous driving sensor suite WeRide SS 5.1 at CES 2023

Recently, WeRide officially obtained a permit for driverless road testing in the intelligent connected vehicle policy pilot zone in Beijing. According to the permit, WeRide's Robotaxi can conduct autonomous driving driverless public road testing within the entire scope of the high-level autonomous driving demonstration zone in Beijing, with no safety personnel in the driver's seat and safety personnel in the passenger seat. The total testing area covers 60 square kilometers.

Previously, at the end of October, WeRide was awarded an autonomous driving road test license by the working office of the high-level autonomous driving demonstration zone in Beijing. The license allows WeRide's Robotaxi fleet to carry out public road testing in the high-level autonomous driving demonstration zone of Beijing with safety personnel in the driver's seat.

WeRide has successively obtained two Beijing autonomous driving road test permits within two months, completing the upgrade from "driver with safety personnel on the road test" to "driverless road test" quickly. This not only stems from WeRide's strong autonomous driving technology, but also from its smooth passage of multiple rigorous technical tests in Beijing, such as closed-scene testing and driverless-scene testing. As early as June 2019, WeRide obtained the first batch of 20 autonomous driving road test licenses issued by the Guangzhou municipal government and began autonomous driving public road testing in the Huangpu district and Guangzhou development zone. In July 2020, WeRide obtained the first national permit for remote testing of intelligent connected vehicles and officially conducted fully driverless driving road tests on open roads within the scope of road testing in Guangzhou, becoming the first autonomous driving company in China and the second in the world to be granted approval for fully driverless driving road tests.As of now, WeRide's global autonomous driving mileage has exceeded 13 million kilometers.

WeRide officially obtained a permit for driverless road testing in the intelligent connected vehicle policy pilot zone in Beijing

Recently, WeRide has successively obtained the "Shenzhen Intelligent Connected Vehicle Road Test License" and the "Shenzhen Intelligent Connected Vehicle Demonstration Application License", becoming the first enterprise to be approved for passenger demonstration operation in Shenzhen with a front-mounted mass-produced autonomous driving minibus. This marks the official landing of WeRide in Shenzhen and is an important milestone for the company's deep layout of autonomous driving technology in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

After obtaining the license, WeRide can carry out the first front-mounted mass-produced autonomous driving minibus micro-cycle passenger demonstration operation in Nanshan District and Longhua District of Shenzhen in accordance with the relevant requirements of the "Management Specification for Intelligent Connected Vehicle Road Testing and Demonstration Applications (Trial)", the "Implementation Rules for the Management of Intelligent Connected Vehicle Road Testing and Demonstration Applications in Shenzhen", and the laws and regulations on road traffic safety, providing automatic driving bus services for citizens. This is also the only autonomous driving minibus project in this batch of intelligent connected vehicle demonstration application licenses.

During the application process for this intelligent connected vehicle demonstration application, WeRide's autonomous driving minibus fully demonstrated the company's safety leadership in autonomous driving technology. In addition to the autonomous driving function testing in the closed test field, it also achieved excellent results of "1000 kilometers in the closed test field without any takeover" and "1000 kilometers on public roads without any takeover", which were highly recognized by expert reviews and joint working groups.

On September 22nd, WeRide, a company specializing in autonomous driving technology, announced the establishment of its Eastern China regional headquarters in the Wuxi Economic Development Zone. The company will conduct research and development, production, and sales of autonomous driving technology. WeRide also signed a three-party cooperation agreement with the Wuxi Economic Development Zone Management Committee and Zhihui Transportation Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Wuxi Traffic Industry Group, to develop and launch autonomous driving products and create the country's first city-level, comprehensive public transportation autonomous driving operation platform.

During the signing ceremony, Du Xiaogang, Secretary of the Wuxi Municipal Committee, met with WeRide's founder and CEO, Han Xu, and Zhou Wendong, Vice Mayor of Wuxi, delivered a speech.

As the first national pilot area for the Internet of Vehicles and one of the first "Double Intelligence" pilot cities, Wuxi has always been at the forefront of the development of the intelligent connected vehicle industry in China. The recently passed "Wuxi Municipal Internet of Vehicles Development Promotion Regulations (Draft)" comprehensively deploys the infrastructure construction, application depth and breadth, technological innovation, and industrial development of the Internet of Vehicles in legislation to guarantee the development of new technologies, new models, and new business formats for the Internet of Vehicles and intelligent connected vehicles, providing a fertile ground for the landing and development of intelligent connected vehicle-related technology companies in Wuxi.

WeRide's Eastern China regional headquarters in Wuxi will leverage local policies and regulations, industry support, and talent reserves to deploy L4 level autonomous driving suite production lines, promote the standardization and large-scale production of L4 level autonomous driving, and play a leading role in the development of the autonomous driving industry in Wuxi by attracting more upstream and downstream enterprises in the autonomous driving field.

Moreover, based on the cooperation between WeRide and Zhihui Transportation Technology in Wuxi, the two sides will work together to create a comprehensive operation platform for autonomous driving that covers the entire area, all scenarios, and all vehicle types in Wuxi. In the future, autonomous driving fleets that cover autonomous driving taxis, minibuses, freight vehicles, and environmental sanitation vehicles will be deployed on a large scale in Wuxi, providing intelligent travel, public transportation, environmental sanitation, logistics, and other services for local governments, enterprises, and residents that are safe, efficient, and economical.

Based on its five major autonomous driving product matrices, WeRide has already achieved safe autonomous driving operations on public roads in cities in China around the clock and in all weather and scenarios. The accumulated mileage of atonomous driving has exceeded 12 million kilometers.The company has also successfully conducted research and development, testing, and operation of autonomous driving in more than 25 cities globally and is leading the world in the commercialization of autonomous driving.

WeRide ONE is a set of universal software that provides a high level of flexibility to achieve autonomous driving capabilities from SAE Level 2 to 4. WeRide’s AD technology has been verified with over 11 million kilometers of rigorous AD test drive on open roads. WeRide’s innovative Level 4 (L4) autonomous driving fleets comprise Robotaxi, Mini Robobus, Robovan and Robo Street Sweeper. The four products are tested and operated day and night, traveling everywhere from central business districts (CBDs) to urban villages, from tunnels to highways, and in sunny, rainy, and snowy weather conditions. WeRide's fleet of over 100 autonomous vehicles

Since its inception, WeRide’s autonomous vehicle fleet has been continuously expanding. As of April 2020, WeRide's fleet of Level 4 autonomous vehicles in China and the U.S. exceeded 100 vehicles across six different models. Over 40 of these vehicles are used for WeRide's fully open Robotaxi operations in Huangpu District and the Development Zone of Guangzhou, while the remaining 60 are used for road testing.

The fleet includes models such as the Lincoln MKZ, the 2019 Nissan LEAF2, the GAC GE3, the GAC Aion LX, the newly launched XPeng P7, and the Dongfeng Nissan Sylphy EV specifically for Robotaxi operations. This is the first time a Chinese autonomous driving company has publicly revealed a fleet of over 100 vehicles for testing and operations.

WeRide's Robotaxi fleet

As one of the earliest teams to engage in autonomous driving startups in China, WeRide has synchronized with the pulse of China's autonomous driving development and achieved several industry milestones:

- November 2018: Released China's first Level 4 autonomous taxi
- August 2019: Established a Robotaxi operation joint venture, WeRide RoboTaxi, with Baiyun Taxi Group and Science City Group
- Late November 2019: Launched China's first fully open Robotaxi operation service
- February 2020: Released China's first Robotaxi operation report. In the first month of operation (December 2019), they completed 8,396 ride orders with zero safety incidents, averaging 270.8 trips per day, with a maximum of 438 orders in a single day, totaling 41,140 kilometers, and serving 4,683 users

WeRide's pioneering efforts in autonomous driving technology development and commercialization provide a practical reference for the industry, driving the construction of the autonomous driving ecosystem.
