Guangzhou, Jan.16, 2025 - A delegation led by Mr. Chris Jones, Director of Technology and Analysis of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), visited WeRide (Nasdaq: WRD), a global leader in autonomous driving technology. The delegation experienced WeRide’s Robotaxi and Robobus. Both Mr. Jones and Ms. Mann were highly impressed with the vehicles’ flexibility and the smooth ride. “The ride was so comfortable that I almost forgot I was in an autonomous vehicle,” commented Ms. Mann.

During the discussion session, WeRide introduced the delegation to how the company addresses global urban challenges, such as high traffic accident rates, aging and shrinking labor forces, and environmental pollution, through autonomous driving technologies. The company also shared its business developments in Singapore, the Middle East, and Europe, highlighting collaborations with local governments and partners to promote the introduction and application of autonomous driving policies and regulations.

Zurich, Jan. 14 – WeRide Inc. During the test phase, two autonomous cars with WeRide technology will be in service. At the start of operations, up to four cars will be deployed, offering residents the opportunity to experience this innovative mobility solution. This fleet of autonomous vehicles is expected to begin operations in the second quarter of 2025 and will operate in a fully unmanned mode for up to five years. The fleet is expected to expand with up to eight additional autonomous vehicles in 2026. The fleet will be further expanded in future phases. 

The first automated vehicles will be deployed in the Furttal Region in Switzerland. Pilot operations will begin in Otelfingen, Boppelsen, Hüttikon, and Dänikon, with plans to extend the test area to Buchs, Dällikon, and Regensdorf.

Residents of these areas will be able to book the autonomous vehicles by an app supplied by ioki, a well-established provider of on-demand mobility solutions in Europe.

In Switzerland, trains serve as the main arteries connecting major cities and towns. According to Federal Office of Transport (FOT), on average, Swiss residents take the train about 70 times a year, the highest rate in Europe. However, suburban areas face limited transportation options. SBB, one of the project investors, was established in 1902 and is Switzerland’s state-owned railway company with a 3,000-kilometer network covering the entire country. The Canton of Zurich, Switzerland's most populous canton, is the second-largest investor. STL, the project manager, is dedicated to exploring and promoting innovative mobility solutions to address urbanization challenges. Leveraging WeRide's internationally leading autonomous driving technology implementation capabilities, the parties will work together to expand Switzerland's intelligent transportation network.

This cooperation project in Switzerland is the third project WeRide has launched in Europe within just eight months. A week ago, WeRide announced the launch of Europe’s first commercial autonomous minibus project at Zurich Airport. During the 2024 French Open, WeRide partnered with Renault to provide the only L4 autonomous shuttle service at the event in Paris.

The selection of WeRide as the technology supplier for the pilot project in Switzerland not only reaffirms the versatility of the WeRide One autonomous driving technology platform and its adaptability to different products but also signifies that WeRide's technology, products, and services are meeting with great interest in Europe, providing a solid foundation for broader international commercial deployment.

WeRide Chosen Technology Supplier for New Pilot Project on Autonomous Driving in Switzerland 

Zurich, Jan. 09 – WeRide Inc. (NASDAQ: WRD), a global leader in autonomous driving technology, today announced the the collaboration with Flughafen Zürich AG in a pilot project that aims to deploy its Robobus autonomous shuttle service at the airfield of Zurich Airport. This marks a significant milestone in bringing autonomous mobility solutions to one of Europe's major aviation hubs and builds upon WeRide's successful European operations, including its recent autonomous shuttle service at Roland-Garros during the 2024 French Open.

The WeRide Robobus, which can accommodate up to nine passengers, will be one of the first commercial autonomous bus shuttle projects within an airport in Europe. It will serve airport employees along a dedicated route inside the airport perimeter, connecting the employee entrance at gate 101 to the work places at gate 130. The route is clearly separate from flight operations, and does not cross any airplane taxiways, making it an ideal place to use autonomous vehicles for the first time, while making it easier for employees to commute within the airport grounds. Tests will begin operations in the first quarter of 2025, complementing existing airside shuttle services for airport staff.

With the aim of developing similar pioneering mobility solutions, Flughafen Zürich AG is working closely with other airports – such as Brussels and Amsterdam – that are also testing technologies for autonomous vehicles. Before the start of pilot Robobus operations, WeRide’s autonomous Robotaxi completed route mapping at Zurich Airport.

Zurich Airport is located at the foot of the Alps, presenting severe challenges to autonomous driving technology due to its complex operational environment and climatic conditions: the airport's aviation-grade safety requirements are extremely high, with strict regulations on the safety and standards of internal operational vehicle systems. The operational route passes through areas with narrow roads, high pedestrian traffic, and a large number of randomly parked vehicles. The airport has special vehicles such as tow trucks, mobile boarding bridge vehicles, luggage transport vehicles, and large snow removal vehicles interacting on the roads. The airport also features high-intensity special electromagnetic signal environment, and the need to cope with alternating weather conditions from sunny, to rainy, or snowy within the same day, as well as extreme weather including strong winds and low temperatures. WeRide aim to overcome all of these extreme challenges with its strong technical capabilities and rich implementation experience, providing Zurich Airport with a mature and reliable autonomous driving solution.

The Zurich Airport service follows the successful deployment in Paris, where Robobus provided efficient shuttle services for VIPs and media across a five-kilometer route during the French Open, as part of an ongoing collaboration with Renault Group to promote low-carbon public transportation solutions across Europe.

The Robobus deployment leverages WeRide's advanced autonomous driving technology, which has undergone extensive testing and validation across more than 30 cities in seven countries. The initial phase at Zurich Airport will include a safety driver on board, with the option to transition to remote monitoring operations in subsequent phases, all supervised by a dedicated operations center at the airport.

“During a tender, one of the leading companies in the automated mobility sector, WeRide, was selected as the technology provider. WeRide possesses a fully developed and thoroughly tested technology, meets all of the legal and safety requirements in place at Zurich Airport and guarantees that it will meet the data protection requirements set out,” Flughafen Zürich AG said in its announcement of the service.

In December, WeRide’s Robobus inaugurated the commercial operation of the Tianhe BRT autonomous shuttle line in Guangzhou, China, in collaboration with Guangzhou Bus Group, offering a new, efficient, and convenient option for nighttime commuters along a nine-kilometer route. Robobus service was also launched Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore in June, 2024. The shuttle route for hotel guests and tourists, jointly launched by WeRide, Resorts World Sentosa, and EZ Buzz Pte. Ltd, spans 1.2 kilometers with four stops along the way, taking approximately 12 minutes to complete.

Zurich Airport will work with several partners to ensure smooth operation of the service.

The Tianhe BRT autonomous shuttle line (BRT Wenyuan - BRT Tangxia Village Loop) commences at BRT Wenyuan Station, passing through several commercial plazas, communities, and transportation hubs over a nine-kilometer route. Key stops include BRT Chebei Station, BRT Dongpu Town Station, and BRT Zhucun Station, before looping back to the starting point. Operating from 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. with a single nightly trip, the service supports Yang Cheng Tong card payments, mobile ride codes, and NFC payments, enhancing the nighttime commuting experience for residents.

As an integral part of Guangzhou's city center BRT system, the BRT Wenyuan - BRT Tangxia Village Loop bolsters the connectivity of the Guangzhou BRT network, effectively streamlining the city’s public transportation “capillaries.” The line connects with Metro Line 4, Line 13, and other routes, and connects with the operational BRT Xiayuan - BRT Wenyuan line, enabling citizens to traverse the Tianhe and Huangpu districts aboard WeRide Robobus.

The launch of the Guangzhou BRT Tianhe autonomous shuttle line is another significant milestone that underscores WeRide’s commitment to commercialization and leveraging technology for public benefit. It further expands the application scenarios for Robobus, diversifies nighttime travel options, and demonstrates the robust capabilities of L4 autonomous driving technology in complex urban environments. WeRide has made significant progress in Saudi Arabia. In September 2022, WeRide debuted at the Global AI Summit in Riyadh, where it announced a partnership with the Saudi Company for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI) and successfully launched Saudi Arabia’s first dynamic Robobus route for demonstration. Saudi Arabia's Minister of Health Visits WeRide to Discuss the Future of Smart Mobility in the Healthcare Industry

Abu Dhabi, UAE – 6 December – Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: UBER), the world’s largest mobility and delivery technology platform, and WeRide (NASDAQ: WRD), the world’s first publicly listed Robotaxi company and a global leader in autonomous driving technology, have announced the launch of their ride-hailing partnership in Abu Dhabi.

The launch represents the first time autonomous vehicles (AVs) are available on the Uber platform outside of the United States, as well as the largest commercial robotaxi service outside the U.S. and China.

The service, supported by the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility), marks a key step in making AVs part of everyday life in the region. Tawasul Transport, a leading UAE national transport company, will act as the fleet operator. 

Starting today, Uber riders in Abu Dhabi requesting UberX or Uber Comfort may be matched with a WeRide AV for qualifying trips. The service will be available in key areas, between Saadiyat Island, Yas Island, and routes to and from Zayed International Airport, with plans to expand the operating territory in the future.

At initial launch, each AV will have a safety operator present to ensure a secure and reliable experience for riders and pedestrians, laying the groundwork for a fully driverless commercial service planned for later in 2025.

Uber riders in Abu Dhabi who are excited about riding in an autonomous vehicle can increase their chances of being matched with a WeRide AV by opting in via the Ride Preferences section of their Uber app under Settings.

During subsequent discussions, WeRide and the UAE delegation explored the current state of autonomous driving in the UAE, the transition to intelligent transportation, and sustainable development goals. WeRide highlighted its international achievements, particularly in the UAE market. Since 2021, WeRide has partnered with Bayanat to launch the largest publicly operated Robotaxi fleet in the Middle East. 
In July 2023, WeRide received the world's first national-level autonomous driving license from the UAE, granted by the UAE Prime Minister, allowing its products to operate on public roads across the UAE. In September, WeRide announced a strategic partnership with Uber, with the first autonomous vehicles set to launch on the Uber platform in Abu Dhabi by year-end.

WeRide Showcases Autonomous Driving Technology to High-Level UAE Delegation 

November 20, 2024 – WeRide (Nasdaq: WRD), the leading global commercial-stage company developing autonomous driving technologies from Level 2 to Level 4, announced that its Robosweeper S6 and Robosweeper S1 have officially commenced operations at Marina Coastal Drive and Esplanade in Singapore, respectively. This milestone represents Singapore's first commercialized autonomous sanitation project, setting a benchmark for the broader adoption of smart sanitation technologies in the country.
The commercial launch of WeRide's two autonomous sanitation devices follows one week after the company’s receipt of M1 and T1 licenses from the Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA). In June of this year, WeRide announced a partnership with Chye Thiam Maintenance (CTM), one of the largest and highest-ranked environmental services companies in Singapore, to jointly advance the commercial deployment of autonomous sanitation technologies in Singapore. In less than six months, the two partners successfully completed the entire process from license applications and road testing, to commercial deployment. The WeRide Robosweeper S6 and Robosweeper S1 have now been deployed at Marina Coastal Drive and Esplanade, respectively, becoming integral components of Singapore's smart sanitation ecosystem.
The WeRide Robosweeper S6 operates nightly from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., focusing on cleaning the Marina Coastal Drive area, while the Robosweeper S1 performs daytime cleaning on the non-motorized lanes and surrounding areas of Esplanade from 8 to 10:30 a.m. and 2 to 5 p.m. daily.

WeRide Robosweepers Enter Marina Bay, Marking Singapore’s First Commercial Autonomous Sanitation Project

November 14, 2024 – WeRide (Nasdaq: WRD), the leading global commercial-stage company developing autonomous driving technologies from Level 2 to Level 4, announced that its Robosweeper S6 and Robosweeper S1 have obtained the Milestone Testing Regime Level 1 License for Autonomous Vehicles (AV) on Public Roads (referred to as "M1 License") and the T1 Assessment License for AVs on Public Paths (referred to as "T1 License"), respectively, from the Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA). With these licenses, both Robosweepers will be able to conduct pilot operations on permitted public roads and paths in Singapore after passing tests.

The T1 and M1 licenses represent comprehensive assessments by the LTA on the technical safety and reliability of autonomous vehicles. As early as December 2023, WeRide’s Robobus obtained both the M1 and T1 licenses in just three months.

According to the standards by the Centre of Excellence for Testing & Research of Autonomous Vehicles – NTU (CETRAN), the T1 license focuses on public path testing, emphasizing technical reliability and precise response capabilities in complex environments. The T1 license obtained by WeRide Robosweeper S1 highlights its safety and efficiency in operating on public paths. 

The M1 license assessment covers multiple dimensions, including basic autonomous driving functions, dynamic and static obstacle recognition and avoidance, and overall vehicle safety performance. During the testing process, the WeRide Robosweeper S6 had to complete tasks such as complex turns, lane keeping, and dynamic environment responses in a highly simulated Singapore urban road environment, showcasing the flexibility and technological advancement of autonomous driving.

In June this year, WeRide’s first batch of Robosweepers arrived in Singapore, securing licenses in just over four months. According to reports from prominent Singaporean media such as Lianhe Zaobao and The Straits Times, the LTA recently stated that the risks associated with fixed routes and low-speed operations are relatively low, which will become a priority for the promotion of autonomous driving technology. Additionally, autonomous sanitation vehicles also alleviate labor shortages in the sanitation industry.

Chee Hong Tat, Minister for Transport of Singapore, recently shared at the opening ceremony of the Singapore International Transport Congress and Exhibition (SITCE) 2024 that the LTA is optimizing its evaluation framework of autonomous vehicles to further promote the application of autonomous driving technology in Singapore.

China

In 2019, WeRide launched China’s first paid Robotaxi services to the public in Guangzhou, which was subsequently expanded to key cities such as Beijing, Nanjing, Suzhou, and Ordos. In Beijing, WeRide achieved commercial operations for autonomous driving Robotaxi services, covering both urban roads and airport highways. In 2022, WeRide successfully rolled out China’s first fee-based large-scale commercial pilot programs for robosweepers on public roads.

In 2023, WeRide partnered with Guangzhou Bus Group to launch China’s first commercial fee-based autonomous minibus services. This milestone was accompanied by the opening of the country’s first autonomous bus BRT route and the first autonomous bus night route. In 2024, WeRide received the first license in China for fully driverless Robovan road testing, with a commercial pilot program actively underway.

United Arab Emirates 
Since 2021, WeRide’s Robotaxi fleet has been operating publicly in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, providing efficient and high-quality autonomous taxi services to residents and tourists on Yas Island and Saadiyat Island. It has been operating safely for approximately three years. Thanks to its solid performance and strong reputation in the local market, WeRide secured the Middle East’s and the world’s first national-level license for self-driving vehicles in July 2023.

Singapore 
In December 2023, WeRide obtained the Milestone Testing Regime Level 1 License for Autonomous Vehicles (AV) on Public Roads ("M1 License") and the T1 Assessment License for AVs on Public Paths ("T1 License") in Singapore with an industrial record for the speed at obtaining such licenses. Six months later, WeRide’s Robobus began operating at Resorts World Sentosa, marking the launch of Singapore’s first public commercial shuttle services with purpose-built Robobus.

New York, 25th Oct, 2024 - WeRide, the leading global commercial-stage company, was officially listed on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker symbol "WRD." Upon listing, WeRide became **the world’s first publicly listed universal autonomous driving technology company and the first publicly listed Robotaxi company.** The initial public offering price was set at $15.5 per American depositary share (ADS). If the underwriters fully exercise the granted option, the Company will issue a total of 8,903,760 ADSs. The total proceeds from the public offering, combined with $320 million concurrent private placement, are expected to amount to $458.5 million, assuming the underwriters of the initial public offering fully exercise their option.
